Project: Part of an administrative building adjacent to a homogeneous development
Location: Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan
Year: 2017
Duration: 16 days
Technology: DEEP INJECTION
Stabilization of the administrative building's load-bearing structures during excessive and uneven foundation settlements
Problem
Excessive uneven precipitation of foundations
Solution
Foundation reinforcement and lifting of settled foundations
Problem
Rapid elimination of the consequences of deformations of above‑ground structures in an administrative building due to excessive uneven settlement of foundations by strengthening the foundation soils.

Initial data:
In the administrative building, uneven settlement of the foundations had been developing for a long time, increasing over time and causing through cracks in the walls and deformation of other load‑bearing structures. Previous surveys of this and adjacent facilities revealed the presence of sandy soils of different granular composition in the foundation, with suffosion weakening of individual layers due to water flows. Previous labour‑intensive and costly measures, such as strengthening the foundation by pouring concrete, did not produce the desired result.

Goal:
Ensure normal operating conditions in the administrative building by carrying out repair work, including strengthening the foundation soils in an effective manner.
The project in detail
Technologies applied:
The problem was solved by the effective DEEP INJECTION method using URETEK technology, which involves injecting a polymer composition into the soil at different depths. The composition hardens quickly and, as it expands, creates pressure that compacts the soil and even lifts settled foundations along with above‑ground structures. In total, the polymer mixture was injected at 181 points at different levels under the footings of the internal and external load‑bearing walls.
Solution
The quality of soil strengthening and the lifting of settled foundations with wall structures by an average of 0.5 mm were verified by dynamic probing of the soil before and after strengthening. During the work, the process was monitored by laser monitoring. Upon completion of the project, the effectiveness of the measures taken was confirmed by an independent third‑party organisation. The work lasted 6 working days.
