The initial data were taken from the instructions and design solutions developed by the design organisation as part of the major repair project for the production building. However, the proposed strengthening method did not satisfy the customer due to its labour intensity and uncertainties associated with the implementation of the proposed design solution.

Goals:
Repair work had to be carried out at maximum speed due to the impossibility of carrying out planned construction and installation work above the area being strengthened. The work had to be carried out in confined conditions in basement rooms inside the building, and also had to be performed in accordance with the instructions of the design organisation.
The project in detail
Technologies applied
According to the adopted design solution, it was necessary to strengthen the soil in the foundation base of the load‑bearing wall. The solution to the problem was provided by the DEEP INJECTION method, offered by URETEK technology.
Solution
The result was confirmed by laser monitoring during the injections and by dynamic probing tests before and after the foundation strengthening, which made it possible to assess the improvement in the mechanical parameters of the soil in the injection zone – up to five times. The effectiveness of the foundation strengthening was demonstrated by the vertical lift of the settled structures by up to 0.5 mm. The work lasted 3 working days.

Based on the dynamic probing performed, the areas of loosened foundation were identified, and a calculation was made for injection soil strengthening to achieve the required deformation modulus and compressive strength of the strengthened soil for the problem area. In total, 13 injection points were implemented, with injections carried out at different levels under the footing of the problematic wall.
