Project: Low-rise apartment building
Location: Kaluga
Year: 2015
Duration: 2 days
Technology: DEEP INJECTION & SLAB LIFTING
Stabilization of the waterlogged foundation and reinforcement of the foundation of a private house
Problem
Cracks on the facade and inside the building with a tilt of the vertical pillars
Solution
Foundation soil reinforcement and deformation stabilization
Problem
Task to be solved:
Carry out strengthening of waterlogged soils beneath the foundation of an operational country house in the shortest possible time, without excavation.
After completion of the house construction, noticeable non‑damping deformations began to develop in its above‑ground structures (vertical and inclined cracks on the facade and inside the building, with tilting of vertical columns). After the survey, it was established that the shallow column foundations consisted of three separate reinforced concrete slabs and had different settlements under different loads and with silty, highly compressible soils beneath them.

Objective
Stabilise deformations by strengthening the foundation soils and ensure conditions for normal operation of the building.
The project in detail
Technologies applied:
Stabilisation of deformations by strengthening the soils beneath the foundation slabs. In total, 48 injections were performed at different levels under the foundation footings.
Solution
Normal operating conditions of the residential house were ensured by injecting the URETEK geopolymer composition, strengthening the foundation soil and stabilising deformations. The effectiveness of the measures was verified by laser monitoring during the injections, with an average structural lift of 4 mm, and by dynamic probing before and after the soil strengthening.
