Eliminate the defect in the house porch as quickly as possible to ensure its safe operation.
Problem
Initial data
A new residential house. Foundation made of precast concrete blocks with a settlement crack between them in the porch area. The survey and probing revealed the cause – the concrete blocks under the porch were laid on loosened backfill soil around the foundations under the walls of the main volume of the residential house.

Objective
Ensure normal operation of the new residential house in the shortest possible time.

Technologies applied
To solve the problem, a measure was applied in the form of strengthening the soil under the foundation blocks by injecting polymer mixtures below their footings using URETEK technology by the DEEP INJECTION method in two stages:
Stage 1 – Surface compaction of the soil, improving its geomechanical characteristics by injecting the polymer mixture directly under the foundation and filling the voids between its blocks and the soil.
Stage 2 – Deep compaction of the soil: injection of the mixture at different levels into the loosened zone to increase the bearing capacity of the foundation and to receive the loads transmitted from the building structures while levelling the structure.
Solution
The work lasted 1 working day. Its quality was controlled by monitoring using a laser level during the work and by dynamic probing before and after the soil strengthening beneath the foundation. The effectiveness of the adopted measure was demonstrated by the vertical lift of the concrete block structures by an average of 5 mm and the levelling of their surface along the entire length of the deformed foundation under the porch.
