Project: Two-storey brick apartment building
Location: Moscow region
Year: 2018
Duration: 7 days
Technology: DEEP INJECTION
Reinforcement of the foundation after the building has settled and filling of cracks
Problem
Cracks on load-bearing walls
Solution
Reinforcement of load-bearing structures
Problem
In spring 2018, Uretek Ground Engineering, at the client's request, carried out a comprehensive survey of a two‑storey residential building. As a result, significantly loosened layers of foundation soils were discovered at various depths below the ground surface.
The project in detail
When developing the project for strengthening the weak‑bearing soils, the company's engineers developed a solution to strengthen the foundation soils and the cracked wall structures using helical reinforcement. This decision was due to the fact that, with significant loosening of the soils and uneven settlement of the building, numerous cracks with varying degrees of opening had formed on the walls. To effectively solve this problem, it was necessary to apply comprehensive measures, namely repair and restoration work on both the soils and the load‑bearing structures.
Solution
The project was successfully completed in the autumn of the same year, which allowed the customer to carry out further finishing work on the house. Uretek provided a 5‑year warranty. After one year, repeated geomonitoring was carried out, and the results showed that over the elapsed time the building had not undergone any changes – settlement had stopped, and the cracks in the walls had been strengthened. The only remaining issue is cosmetic finishing of the building.
