Construction of the house began in winter 2012. When the walls and roof were erected and the interior finishing of the house had started, the technical supervisor noticed cracks in the foundation and walls. After inspection and re‑compaction of the soil, it was determined that the soil under the foundation needed to be strengthened again and the front facade lifted. The foundations had settled to such an extent in the middle of the facade that the walls did not stand properly on the foundations.

Without addressing the loosened foundation, the settlement would continue, making it impossible to live in the house. It became necessary to compact the soil to such a degree that it would not settle again and to lift the foundations to the design levels in order to bring the structures into working condition. Since time was a significant factor because the family building the house wanted to move in, the problem had to be solved quickly. Extending the construction period would have required not only construction costs but also rental housing for the entire family beyond the planned time, without considering finding a new place to live.

After surveying the foundation soils, it was decided to develop a project for geopolymer injection, as this was the best way to ensure compaction and consolidation of the coarse‑grained soil, followed by lifting the foundations and walls to the design levels.

Result
The work was completed within 2 days without disrupting (or suspending) other construction work directly on site. Tests carried out after the restoration showed an improvement in the bearing capacity of the soil compared to previous tests. The foundations were also lifted to the design level.
