Project: Private one-storey apartment building
Location: Moscow Region, Russia
Year: 2016
Duration: 1 day
Technology: SLAB LIFTING
Filling voids and leveling the floor slab in a private household
Problem
Uneven sinking of the floor slab
Solution
Filling the voids and then leveling the floor slab
In early July 2016, the company carried out a survey of the foundation soils in a private house in the Moscow region. The reason for the request was a problem with uneven settlement of the floor slab in part of the house. According to the customer, technological errors were made during the construction of the foundation and floor slab, which led to unpleasant consequences during operation.
Problem
During the survey, areas with insufficient bearing capacity were found, as well as voids between the foundation soil and the floor slab. Uretek engineers developed a project to restore the bearing capacity of the foundation soils and fill the voids, as well as to subsequently lift and level the floor slab. The use of any alternative methods to eliminate slab settlement was considered and rejected for several reasons:
  • Strengthening the soil with cement grout did not solve all the problems, and due to technological features (dirty work) would also have damaged the landscape of the site.
  • The use of piles could only stop the settlement of the slab, but this technology did not solve the issue of lifting and levelling the floor slab. There is also always the issue of connection points between the floor slab and the pile, which would effectively mean building a new floor.
The project in detail
The presence of a heated floor, which could not be damaged, prevented the use of traditional methods.
Solution
In August 2016, during the work, Uretek specialists decided to carry out injection work from the outside of the building – this was more difficult from a technical point of view, but it allowed preserving the tiles and the integrity of the heated floors. As a result of the work carried out within 6 hours, the floor slab was levelled and brought as close as possible to the original design values with an accuracy of +/- 1 mm.
