Project: Customs Building (historical building)
Location: Italy
Year: 2003
Duration: 14 working days
Technology: DEEP INJECTION
Reinforcement of the foundation soil of a historic building in Italy - Punta della Dogana
Problem
Cracks and subsidence in the load-bearing wall
Solution
Elimination of subsidence and strengthening of the foundation base
One of the most famous buildings in Venice, built at the end of the 17th century. It separates the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal with its unique triangular shape.
Problem
In May 2003, during restoration work in a bank building on the Grand Canal, the side wall and the historic customs building unexpectedly settled. This also led to the opening of numerous cracks.
Solution
Using Uretek, injections were carried out into the bearing soil layers and into the back of the wall at the foundation. The situation was corrected without interventions or damage to neighbouring buildings.
