Project: Multifunctional garage (outbuildings)
Location: Moscow region
Year: 2015
Duration: 2 working days
Technology: DEEP INJECTION
Lifting sagging garage structures and strengthening the weak foundation
Problem
The sagging section of the building
Solution
Soil reinforcement at the foundation base with its lifting
In an operational garage building, deformations occurred in the masonry of an external wall section due to uneven settlement of foundations in the presence of weakened soils beneath their footings. Dynamic probing in this area revealed that this was caused by wetting and compression of the soil due to the ingress of atmospheric water runoff from the roof through a drainage pipe.
Problem
Task to be solved:
Lifting the deformed garage wall section and foundation to the design level with injection strengthening of the foundation soils.

Objective:
Restoration of the operational parameters of the garage building by strengthening the foundation base soil and lifting it to the design level.
The project in detail
Technology applied:
The solution to the problem was facilitated by the applied DEEP INJECTION method according to URETEK technology. The soil strengthening measures included injecting the URETEK geopolymer composition beneath the settled foundation to achieve the required mechanical properties of the strengthened soil while simultaneously lifting the settled foundation and wall by 15 mm to the design level. In total, 24 injections of polymer mixtures were made into the soil at different levels beneath the foundation.
Solution
The result of the injection was verified using laser monitoring during the injections and by performing dynamic probing tests before and after the foundation strengthening, which made it possible to assess the improvement in the mechanical characteristics of the soil in the injection zone. The lifting of the structures by an average of 15 mm confirmed the effectiveness of the measures. The strengthening of the foundation base soils lasted 2 working days.
